If you are really interested in immersing yourself in the powerful essence of the Panamanian Caribbean, well search no more! Bocas del Toro is the perfect destination for you.
With an omnipresent multiculturalism, a sea and reefs that invite you to sports and peaceful abandonment, and a nature that touches everything, Bocas (as it is popularly known) is an undulating and relaxed paradise that will captivate you.
And if you really want to thoroughly capture the Bocatoreño lifestyle, there is no better time of the year than visiting the International Sea Fair. It is held annually, in September, to take advantage of the good weather of that month. This 2019, its LVIII (58th) version, will begin on Wednesday, September 11, and end on Sunday, 15 of the same month.
The fair takes place on both sides of the road that runs parallel with the sea along the Istmito Beach, also called Fair Beach. In addition to typical dishes and local music, during the fair you can visit the stalls selling typical sweets, handicrafts, costume jewellery, and various other ware peddlers.
It also has the participation of different positions organized by governmental, local and national entities, as well as environmental and developmental organizations.
Every night there will be various artistic attractions of folk groups from various parts of the country, including a complete sample of the dances and traditional rhythms of the Province of Bocas del Toro, among which is the danza de cuadrillas (dance of gangs) and the Palo de Mayo dance.
A high point of the fair are its water activities, such as motorboat racing and rowing boat competitions. In addition to these tournaments, a fishing tournament will be held, which every year is more popular and receives more participation.

Bocas del Toro has many hotels, but none that is fully constructed on water on a private island. Enter Urraca Private Island, a project of love of nature for French Canadian owner Francine, who uses the profits from your stay to not only maintain the lodge but also give back to the land, and the native Ngäbe by providing jobs for them and letting them be a part of her dream.
This private island is also very special because our friends Francine has adopted many monkeys that have been abandoned by their pet owners, or found orphaned due to habitat loss or hunting in the wild. Now, all these monkeys belong to a troop where they can socialize, groom, and play with other monkeys every day.
